Treasures galore for the movie buff!
Movies have a life all their own. Besides the entertainment value they provide, there are also the lasting material things that remain as reminders of these wonderful (and not so wonderful) films. These things serve as reminders to the movie going public and may have some intrinsic value as well. Examples of the above are the rel="nofollow">a href="”http://www.dangmovies.com”" target="_blank">movie posters, collectibles, props and other miscellaneous items that are produced by the ad agencies, special effects artists, hobby enthusiasts, toy manufacturers, and even movie enthusiasts.
One of the most familiar movie items is the advertising posters one sees outside the theater. These can be quite colorful and are designed to stimulate one’s imagination and lure the potential viewer into the theater. These posters have been divided into the particular genre such as: Westerns, Horror, Sci-Fi, and War. Some of these divisions can have special groups of movies all unto themselves. For instance: Star Wars or James Bond. One poster for the 1967 James Bond spoof, “Casino Royale” is presently selling for $300 USD and a poster for the first James Bond movie, “Dr. No” (1962) is selling for $3,000 USD. Posters have become such big business that there is a company that specializes in restoring them using a linen background. Their value just increases with time.
Another group of movie items that is much sought after are the props used in making the movies. Today with computer graphics some of the characters, creatures, or other items may be totally fabricated in a computer generated model. There are still many props used on the big and little screens that are much in demand. Miniatures of much larger items such as space ships, landscapes, cities, or creatures are very detailed and amazingly real in appearance. The problem with props is that they are very limited and often times kept by the studio for further possible movies or they are dismantled. In this category there are also the replicas made by model companies and toy manufacturers. After all, if you can’t have the real thing you can also get (and afford) a replica.
Still another group of movie/TV related items that might be related to props are the statues and action figures. The statues are in a single pose and are usually sold by model companies. The action figures are designed to be handled and are made to be more durable. There is a growing market for these action figures. Their value is much higher if they are not removed from the box. These are essentially toys that are collected in the hopes that in the future they will have accrued in value a great deal.
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

Cat Lover's Gift Basket Speaking as a quintessential cat lover, receiving a "Cat Lover's Gift Basket" is second only to receiving an actual cat!
Next time you're shopping for someone who is as wild about cats as you and I are, consider the following suggestions. You'll all be happy, including the feline of the group.
First of all, decide upon your "Basket". It can either be a medium-sized wicker basket (cats love to nestle inside of them) or it could be a fairly deep cat bed. Inside, on the bottom, lay out sheets of colorful tissue paper, or even a pretty baby blanket.
Following are some ideas for treats to fill the basket or bed. Customize the list appropiately for the lucky person who is receiving the present.
-A CD of light jazz that he/she and their feline friend will enjoy listening to together. Cats love jazz. They have such exquisite taste.
-A great looking set of water and food dishes.
-A coffee mug with a cat on it.
-A Garfield book of comic strips and/or a Garfield calendar.
-Cat Nip-filled toys or balls.
-A ball of yarn. Stereotypical, sure....but oh so much fun!
-The Video Version of the musical "Cats".
The possibilities are as endless as your imagination and your desire to bring a smile to this person's face.

Russia Defends Iranian Nuke Program; Considers Position Good Customer Service
While the civilized world has reacted with horror at Iran’s plan to harness the energy of the atom, as in bombs away, Russia has steadfastly defended the menacing mullahdom’s nuclear ambitions.
At first, any person distinguished for responsible behavior is taken back by such apparently reckless advocacy, not only because it seems wildly risky, if not outright self-destructive, but also because one does not expect it from people who have decided to present themselves as such reformed friends of humanity and trustworthy politicos that they dress in spiffy garb, instead of in their former universal drab.
We, however, turn to the hard-learned observation that, if anybody’s behavior doesn’t’ seem to make sense, you probably just don’t understand what his or her goals are.
Seen this way, the gremlin in the Kremlin is as obvious as the red power tie we often see dangling from Vladimir Putin's neck. Iran buys weapons from Russia and will now buy enriched uranium, too, and Russia is just servicing the customer.
As V. P., who brought order to Russia by ordering his Russian cohorts around, said, “Once when I was in the KGB and didn’t have a lot to do, I read about the American department store tycoon, John Wanamaker, who once told a clerk, ‘When a customer comes in, forget about me.’ So when Iran comes up, I forget about everything but putting the customer first. It seems like the capitalist thing to do, and in the modern Russian economy, I think there’s at least room for that much free enterprise.”
One would think that there would be some awareness of the geographical limits of his enthusiasm. After all, Russia is a lot closer to Iran than we are. There are also other inescapable aspects of the client relationship that ought to be considered, among them that Vladimir and his gangsta-rich associates look as much like infidels to the Iranians currently steering their ship of state toward the reefs of war as we do.
What Lenin once said about capitalists apparently also applies to reformed communists: they would sell you the rope to hang them with.

Meet Kate Bosworth: Superman Returns
There are few more iconic characters in American movie history as Lois Lane, Clark Kent’s sidekick at the Daily Planet, and Superman’s romantic interest. But 23 year old Kate Bosworth’s performance has earned her a number of excellent reviews in the role in the latest film in the Superman series – ‘Superman Returns’.
Bosworth admits that she was unsure if any actor could pull of a convincing Superman/Clark Kent combination – she remembers the original film with great excitement. However, she is full of praise for Brandon Routh, the unknown actor who plays the title role. She realized how good Routh was going to be as early as an early screen test, before she had got the role, when she discovered she “had become totally lost in just reading with him, in a white, bare, sparse room with the tri-pod video camera and a couple of people sitting around and watching and that's when I realized he was going to be tremendous in this film”.
Bosworth modelled her Lois Lane performance on Katharine Hepburn. "I watched a lot of Hepburn to prepare for Lois, particularly ‘The Philadelphia Story’ and ‘Guess Who's Coming to Dinner’. Hepburn is a great model for how I see Lois - strong but fragile."
Bosworth spent her early childhood moving around the US, from Los Angeles to San Francisco, then to Connecticut and to Massachusetts. It was around the time of the move to Massachusetts in 1998 that she heard of an open audition for Robert Redford’s film ‘The Horse Whisperer’. A horse-lover, she went along for the experience, and won the role of the female lead's best friend. After “The Horse Whisperer” Bosworth took a break from acting, returning two years later to resume her career which has culminated with her role in ‘Superman Returns’.
