The 8 Archetypes of the New-Age Manager
If you’re a manager working in a business that wants to become successful in the 21st century, then you need to embrace the 8 archetypal roles of the New-Age Manager.
1. Prophet. The new-age manager stands out from others by their ability to see possibilities that others don’t see. He or she doesn’t just have a goal for the team to reach, but a vision of something exciting and unique.

2. Partner. The days when the manager was someone who stood above the workforce or lived in a separate part of the business have long gone. Today, the manager is a key player in the team, a part of it as well as apart from it. He or she is a key partner serving the team and in turn being served by it.

3. Performer. The new-age manager gets results. This is because he or she works with the team, knows what they want, and has the skills to communicate their vision to others. The workplace becomes a dynamic and exciting place to be. And everyone performs out of their skin.

4. Poet. It may sound strange to talk about the manager as a poet but as an articulator of the deeper meaning of the values of the workplace and a communicator of emotions as well as information, this is what he or she is.
“He who is certain he knows the end of things when he is only beginning them is either extremely wise or extremely foolish. No matter which is true, he is certainly an unhappy man for he has put a knife in the heart of wonder.” (Tad Williams)
5. Philosopher. The reason why the modern manager is a philosopher is that he or she needs a much wider perspective on the workplace than their predecessors of old. They need to see much deeper purposes in work than just a way to make a profit or earn money. They need to see the value of service and the value of personal and team development. In short, the new-age manager has to come to terms with the spiritual dimension of work.

6. Pioneer. The one thing that new-age managers have to live with that their forefathers didn’t is constant change. They have to both create and tear down, build and destroy. They have to set themselves on one course only to make a sharp U-turn and do something else when conditions dictate. The modern manager is like the frontiersman or woman of old, seeking new lands and new adventures every day.

7. Persuader. One thing that hasn’t changed from the past is the key role that managers play in communicating with others. In fact, they have to be even better at communicating than ever. They need to be articulate as well as silent. They need to coach as well as be coached. They need to speak to people’s minds as well as to their hearts. If the ability to make a case was a crucial skill of old, then in the future one of the most valuable skills will be the skill to persuade.

8. Pilgrim. In the stories of the past, one of the heroic archetypes was the figure of the pilgrim who goes on a journey to discover treasures and ends up discovering himself. That’s an apt way to end these descriptions of the modern manager. He or she is an adventurer who goes into the unknown, a dream-seeker, a wanderer for whom the journey will always be more important than the destination.

U.S. Ends Oil Dependency; Turns B.S. Into Fuel
While America is experiencing a gasoline shortage, the nation’s dependence on foreign oil is about to end.
A researcher at The Department of Energy, from which breakthrough ideas emanate on a regular basis, noticed that Americans, along with most people who ever lived, have a virtually unlimited and renewable supply of B. S. He wondered if it might be turned into fuel.
The hypothesis proved so promising that his work produced a marvelous result in as short a time as it took to record some B. S. from a wonderfully fertile colleague and wire it to a refinery. He calls the new potion Bio-Super.
“It’s the most concentrated fuel in history,” he tells us, “with an octane rating of 99.9. I figure we’ve got enough of a supply to meet our total energy needs for the foreseeable future. All we have to do is keep B. S.-ing the way we do, and we’ll have all the Bio-Super we and our children need.”
The product is ready for mass production. The technique calls for the collection of B. S. from all over the country by having the most irrepressible exponents of it talk into microphones. The B. S. is then broadcast to the closest refinery.
Bio-Super also has an advantage over other fuels in terms of pollution, because the process actually takes a lot of it out of the air.
Since the B. S. is so highly concentrated to begin with, the production of Bio-Super is quite a lot more efficient than the manufacture of biofuel from corn or woodchips. Just a hundred words of good old American B. S., particularly from people who like to hang out at bars after work and talk their heads off, can produce enough to fill up the gasoline tank on a Hummer.
The only negative aspect is the product’s exceptional volatility. Once you pump it into your tank, you have to slam the gas cap shut instantly or it will all evaporate. Motorists are also advised only to remove the cap when the gauge is nearly on empty and to stand aside; otherwise, there is the risk of being knocked out with a force that scientists have calculated is equivalent to six airbags.

Getting Into Your Desired Job Position
When we look for a job, we wanted to be working in the field we specialize or plainly have an interest with so we can utilize our knowledge and talent. Some of us successfully got what they want while others looked for different fieldwork due to different circumstances.
In these days, it is hard to look for a job. Employers look for an edge that makes you different from the rest. Moreover, the edge that employers look for is experience. When applying for a job that you desire you must at least have the experience or have knowledge on the position you are applying. However, when an employer sees that you have the potential, they will provide a free training for the position we applied.
How employers knew who would fit for the position? The answer really depends on us applicants� performance during the application. When we pass our resume either online or walk-in, the employer must get a good impression from the resume that we submitted. What we wrote in the resume is what exactly we can offer to the company, so be careful not to be too arrogant in making a resume, be precise, limit yourself on what you know. Never put anything in the resume that we actually do not know.
When an employer likes what he sees in your resume immediately he will ask for an interview, now during the interview it is ok to be confident but not too much. Just be yourself, if you do not know the answer to his question just politely say you do not have any idea. Just make it a point that the employer sees in you the interest in the position you are applying, and it is enough for the employer to hire you.
From the job given to you, we must learn from it, not just work it. Learn how to enrich your knowledge. Never stop, always aim higher, take it gradually to the position you really wanted to achieve.

Repairing a damaged CD Why compact discs get damaged. Compact discs are all plastic. Compact discs are even not sensitive to magnetic fields as in case floppy disks, which never used to retain data when even a slight magnetic field is crossed with floppies. Then what is the reason why CDs get corrupted?
CDs work on the principle of reflection of light. CD drives have a built in laser that is used to read data. When laser is focused on to the CD the beam get reflected to a point when there is some data on that are i.e. 0 or 1 the points where light beam lands back is different which symbolizes the bit value.
When something on the CD breaks the path of the laser light, something like dust particle or something else like a FINGER PRINT!!!. Finger prints are nothing but natural oil from skin that sticks to the surface in contact with the skin in a pattern of skin cells. This oil or say fingerprint helps in refraction of light and loss of data to the reading source i.e. laser.
When CDs don't run the reason is because something is interrupting the laser to read the shinny side of the CD. But I have important data what should I do now?
Most of the times it is because of dust or fingerprints, you need to clean the CD.
You can clean your CDs with plain water or a bit soapy water. And it is better to clean the CDs after some time. But this doesn't mean you should start putting your CDs in dishwasher or washing machine every week.
All you need to do is to wipe the shinny side of the CD with a clean moist cloth and try running it again make sure the CD is dry before you run it.
People say about using all different sorts of things to clean CDs like toothpastes, wax polish etc. but I would recommend you to buy some CD cleaning kit. But if you still want to go try, do let me know the results.
And one thing I must add is that DVD work on the same principle and are bit more sensitive to dust and fingerprints. You can also use the above mentioned procedure for DVDs. But you need to be careful with DVDs.
